So today was the first full day of classes, and they all seem quite interesting. So far:
Combinatorics: The subject itself seems quite interesting... a lot of what we did in 251 that I enjoyed (but had trouble with). The professor seems very good though... competent, and a little wacky... perfect for a math professor.
213: This class has me excited, despite looking to be hard as hell. In addition to the binary bomb, we have to do a buffer bomb where we have to cause a buffer overflow on a program to make it do weird things. Yay for learning to hack! The professor seems a lot better than Brookes.
312: Having this after 213 is quite... an experience. Coming from talking about registers and assembly to learning about type theory and erasing the line between proof and implementation is certainly confusing. Did fun stuff with inductive definitions today. The professor seems very good though. Should be a good class.
Nature of Language: Interesting first day. The subject itself seems interesting enough, but I don't like how the professor just ignores things she doesn't agree with... for example, two people were arguing over language vs music and images and interpretations of such, and she more or less ignored one side to lecture on the stuff she agreed on. I mean, sure, the goal of the course isn't to debate and stuff like that, and we do have limited time, but it seems irresponsible of her to just ignore something. Good course though, hopefully.
Tomorrow are e=mc2 and photography. Wheee. Soooo much class tomorrow... have a yearbook meeting too, so I'm pretty much booked solid from 11:30 until 9:30. Meh.
I should do the homework for e=mc2 soon...
