Sorry about having to split comments. I tried adding a comment to the last entry, but it resulted in the page not compiling correctly... too much data, I guess. So here's to continue comments. Anway, in responce to John:

"Also, she has not taught us any writing yet. None. But she has already assigned two 2 page essays."
This is exactly what I'm talking about. Just because we're gifted doesn't mean we automatically know everything. You still have to teach. And what's the point of assigning two essays then? If she wants a writing sample, one is sufficient. Or give us one essay in general, then TEACH US another type of essay or give us suggestions on our old one, and assign another.

Well.. I kinda skimmed a few of your entries.. .though I must say that I've heard Jennie's work-over-volunteering speech one too many times... and news flash Jen... you can get fired from volunteer... I have to take a test twice a year on 'patient confidentiality' and 'safety procedures' and all that... get vaccinations and fun little TB skin tests done on my annually otherwise I get kicked out of the program.

Community service won't kill you jen... twelve hours a year evens out... realllyyy nicely... c'mon, you have nine and a half months? to do ten hours... that's .0018 hours a day ;)... or more likely an hour here and there... You'll learn to live with it.

As for the English teacher... I dunno... I must say my opinion of her hasn't risen since the begining of the school year.. .and her 'competence' level doesn't seem that great after she made the sentence, "while eating pizza, the baseball flew through the window"... and when someone pointed out that it sounds like the ball was eating pizza, she turned it into, "while eating pizza, a baseball flew through the window..." o.O wasn't this a huge thing Ms. Pate spent last year working with us on?

Plus, our very first essay, she told us to write 'AP style' without ever explaining what AP style was... or realizing that... it was the beginning of the year and we hadn't taken AP english before?

But... I suppose if people insist on her capability, there's no harm in sticking around to see if she's not quite so bad after all.

I mean one of the english teachers I completely hated at the beginning of the year turned out teach one of the best classes I've ever taken.

Eh, Ms. pullen's right about the 'if teachers were as quick to judge' thing.. .though I would like to point out that some are... or actually... many, that I've had...

People are only human guys: teacher, student, or otherwse.

Ms. Nutti has proven herself worthy. Strange grammar or not, I relish the chance to turn in a 2 page (double space) essay and actually get full credit.

so far, i haven't learned anything in her class save that the words 'is, have, were, and are' aure bad words for some reason. now to give you soem frame of reference, in my french class, we have learned nubers 1-20, how to entroduce yourself, how to say hello and goosbye, how to say where we're from, how we a re doing, as well as having an introduction to masculine feminine forms of words. now don't tell me that that isn't like night and day. and she's got really bad jokes. the only thing i like abou her is that she had basically no decipline system. yay.

Well, to be fair, there's only so much you can learn about English... after you learn the everything about grammar and whatnot (which should have been in middle school or freshman year), all you do is read and analyze or whatever. As far as a language goes, there's a lot more to teach that can be quantified. I'm sure if you were taking your first English class, you'd have learned your numbers, introductions, basic words, and whatnot too.

I dunno... more opinions from the Junior class?
