Academy... improving?
I stopped by Dannette at district office today... to talk, play PPA TCG, etc. We had a long talk about next year... and from what she says, I'm feeling optomistic for everyone.

First off, all teachers next year will have gifted certification (even if it's only emergency gifted certification). This was something abandoned the second year... but it's definetly important. Also, the teachers were sent to an AP confrence. You'll also have the best teachers McClintock has to offer (except Junior English :-\), like Mrs. Moon, Mrs. Glazier, Mrs. Khan, etc. Class sizes are pretty much no larger than 25. And, of course, since all the teachers are full-time (split between MHS and PPA), you'll be able to go to them for help when you need it. And the teachers will use technology next year. Basically, academically, you're all going to have it very well next year... a lot better than '03-'04, '02-'03, or possibly even better than '01-'02.

There WILL be a secretary in the front office to handle things (and sell cards, hopefully!), so there will be someone in there to help you. Mrs. Zinke is definetly a capable leader, especially since she's handled things before. Ms. Earl will be there to help. McClintock guidance is eager to help (and they got rid of the evil lady at the guidance secretary desk who always chased people away). Transcripts will continue to carry the PPA information letter, which explains the class difficulties and such for colleges, and Mrs. Zinke will be available for help with this and for letters of rec. There will be Academy clubs, a back-to-school party, and extracurriculars. Things won't be as close-knit as before (when everything was in Unit 5), but it won't be nearly as bad as I had thought... and most of the PPA classes will still be in Unit 5.

So yeah... after that talk, I'm feeling good for you all next year :) If it had been Mrs. Boles (or Ms. Earl, to a certain extent) telling me all this, I'd be a bit skeptical... after all, she is a politician... and Ms. Earl is overly optimistic. But this is Dannette... And if you know Dannette, you know she doesn't exaggerate or make things out to be better than they are. If things sucked, she'd be the first to acknowledge it. Knowing she is looking forward to next year puts me at ease :)

Dannette, if you read this, feel free to add, amend, or correct any of the stuff I've written :)

Alan-
You got it all down. I know its all been said before, but I am excited that this year will be better academically. I spoke with Ms. Zinke last night and let her know your concerns. She is aware and is going to work through making sure that all PPA needs are serviced and met. I will still be helping her whenever she needs and will help train the new secretary.

As for Junior English, that is the only class I am alittle concerned in the Teacher selection. However, this was the best we could pull, without hiring a teacher for one class. We all know how that goes. But I know that the Juniors will whip her into shape. Let Ms. Zinke know if things really get bad in there and have your parents email the teacher and Ms. Zinke with their concerns.

Stop in and see me!!! I am lonely....

I MISS yOU ALL!!!

Whip into shape? Does this imply that the cat'o'nine'tales is permissible? But most in unit 5? Eh... I have none... I'm bad...

better than '01-'02? are you sure you want to say that alan?

Academically better.

That doesn't, by any means, it will be better overall.

Academics are only a tiny part of the Academy, as we all know too well.
