Not fair
You know what? This sucks. In Desert Vista, when 5 students scored an 800 on the math portion of the SAT, they got mentioned in the newspaper.
I got an 800 in math, and an 800 in writing (not verbal) and I wasn't in the paper.
Four MTP Students got National Merit Recognized, and three got Semifinalist, only one of which got Finalist. They all got mentioned in the school mailer, website, etc.
All four qualifying PPA students got Finalist, and we never get mentioned (except on the website).
Four MTP Students got AP Scholar awards, and got mentioned in the school mailer.
A ton of PPA students have AP Scholar awards (I got mine last year), and we never got mentioned anywhere.
One MTP Student got a 5 on the World History AP and got special mention.
A TON of PPA students have 5s on many exams, and we never get mentioned.
I'm qualified for the Presidential scholarship, and I never got mentioned anywhere.
To be fair, three MTP people are qualified, and they didn't get mentioned either.
But STILL, you get my point.
Bleah. First of all, ow can people stand there and say PPA is a failure when 100% of qualified people got Finalist status in the National Merit competition? That's 25% of the graduating class, or about 30% of people who even took the PSAT. Wow, suddenly, look at Mountain Pointe. They have ONE SCHOLAR! Wowwwww, they must be an amazing school! I mean, not to put MTP down or anything, because I'm sure they're proud of their accomplishments, but what gives everyone the right to knock down OUR accomplishments? We're ignored and shoved out of the way and crushed. Lemme guess, if I GET the Presidential Scholarship (only about 141 students nationwide get it), it STILL won't be good enough for the district because PPA sucks and has no accomplishments worth talking about.

Comments:

it's because nobody else knows that. or they do and they don't want to admit it. they can't handle that we are supposed to be these sheltered, under/over funded, geeky FREAKS who are doing better than their kids. Boo-hoo the PPA kids are doing better than mine! they are too incompetent to handle it. or if that argument is too far out for you, consider this: if there is a small group of kids that you personally dislike as does everyone yiou have contact with, are you going to give them the pleasure of mentioning them in any sort of publication?
