Barney busted in largest drug bust in US history
The star of the popular show "Barney and Friends" was arrested last Tuesday in the largest drug bust in US history.
After recieving an anonymous tip from a child who would only identify himself as "one of Barney's 'kids,'" police searched a small shack in Boston only to discover several tons of illegal drugs in an expansive underground drug factory.
"He was there too," said police chief Rodgers afterward. "The big dinosaur himself. The little green one and the yellow one were helping too. And all these kids from the show...forced to work at producing these drugs. Meth, pot, LSD, you name it, they were making it. It boggles my mind how this could have gone unnoticed for so long."
Indeed, neighbors said they never noticed anything strange. Barney would often be seen going into the shack with kids, presumably to sing and dance, and the kids would leave a few hours later smiling from ear to ear.
"We see now that those poor kids were high," says neighbor Shari Lewis. "Every day, taking advantage of their addictions and forcing them to work like that for a few ounces of drug a day..."
The well known dinosaur has been on PBS for many years, shown singing and dancing with his kids, and teaching lessons about respect and cooperation to children across America.
"Too bad he doesn't watch his own show," said Rodgers. "Maybe he woulda learned something about breaking the law."
If convicted on the counts of illegal drug possession and child endangerment, Barney could face up to life in prison.
