The Dark Side of the Moon
Chapter Eight
Based on an RP by Alan and David

Talyon pushed open the doors to the central chamber, ignoring the protests from the guards at the doors. James followed quickly, nervous.
"Council! We must speak to you!" Talyon's voice echoed in the hollowed halls. The council members sat behind tall podiums, overlooking the large area where Talyon and James now stood. They seemed to ignore him, carrying on their own discussions.
"It is a matter of utmost importance!" Talyon tried again. "The existence of the colony could be at stake!"
This seemed to grab their attention. The council went silent, staring down at the two small figures below. Finally, one spoke, "Explain."
"The colony is under attack," Talyon began breathlessly, feeling intimidated by the faces staring down at him. "There is some kind of creature out there. It's attacking our power supplies. And look at this." He grabbed James' arm and held it up to the light. It looked deathly pale, even in the bright light of the room.
"I see," spoke up another member. "Thank you for your report. You may be dismissed."
"Didn't you hear what I said?!?" Talyon yelled, anger rising. "We have to act now! It has already penetrated into the populace. Somehow, it's spreading... in the lab..."
This seemed to get their attention. "What do you know about it?"
Talyon pondered their strange question for a few moments before making his reply, "We know that it can take over and control tissue...somehow. It's dangerous, we have to act now, before it's too late."
"What about its origins?" asked another member sharply.
"The creature attacked a maintenance team. We... I... brought back one of the bodies. From there it..."
"But you have no idea as to the origins of the creature?"
"No," Talyon answered truthfully. "But why is that important? We must..."
"Wait," James stopped him, staring up at the council, the truth dawning on him. "You... this is all your doing, isn't it?" There was no response, so he continued, "You conducted some kind of experiment... to do god knows what... but it didn't work. And now, this is w..."
"Enough!" roared a different council member.
Talyon stared up at them in disbelief. "This is all... your... fault?" He headed toward the door. "Wait til the government back on earth hears about this... genetic testing was banned in AD 2050..." He reached the door and pushed. Nothing.
"It's no use trying to escape," said one of the council members. "You have seen too much."
