Wednesday December 10, 2003 Dark Side of the Moon - Ch 6
Well well well, aren't you lucky today? You get three (and possibly four) entries in my journal from one day. I actually don't have work today, and I'm also using this fic as my final project for english, which is why. But hey, you benefit too if you've been reading the story.

The Dark Side of the Moon
Chapter Six
Based on an RP by Alan and David

The dust stirred under their feet as they walked, sending up a hazy plume. Talyon stared at his weapon uncertainly. "How do I use this thing, anyway?"
"Just pull the trigger," James replied, demonstrating with his own weapon.
"Don't do too much of that," Talyon warned as a rock a few meters away exploded. "We don't want to give away our position."
James chuckled nervously. "Like the floodlights don't do that already?"
Talyon didn't respond, inching forward nervously toward the power conduits that powered the theatre. Even from this distance, he could see claw marks through the lines, deeper this time, halfway into the dome itself. "C'mon," he whispered, moving more urgently. James followed quickly, looking around as if he expected something to jump out at them. His hand, and even his whole arm, had started to itch again and he tried to scratch it through the suit.
Talyon leaned over the panel, inspecting the damage. "Dammit," he muttered, "it's going to take a good two days to fix this..." He trailed off as, in the reflection on the dome, he caught sight of something very large behind them.
"What is it?" James asked, not noticing his arm aim the rifle toward Talyon's floodlight and fire. "What the hell?!?"
"James!! What the..." Talyon began before jumping just out of the way, a huge black mass of fur landing where he had been standing moments earlier. Both floodlights were out now, and Talyon ran back toward the airlock. "James, c'mon!" he yelled back.
James turned to fire at the creature, only to realize he no longer had control of the weapon. "Watch out!" he yelled to Talyon as he aimed the weapon and fired at his friend.
Talyon grunted as he fell to the ground, feeling the beam pass just over his head. "James, what the hell are you doing?!?!?" He wrenched the rifle from his grasp and pulled him back to the airlock, firing back toward the creature all the while. The two of them stumbled into the airlock and slammed the controls, the door sliding shut just in time. James fell to the floor inside, pulling off his helmet and breathing heavily, noticing that he could again control his hand and arm.
Talyon followed suit, trying to regain his breath. "Do... you... mind... telling... me... what the F*** that was??!!?" he demanded, staring at his friend. "Why... did... you... shoot the.... light? We... almost got... killed..."
"I... couldn't.... help it!" James said, as bewildered as he was afraid. "I... couldn't... control it... It was like..." he ripped off the suit, a thought occurring to him. The two of them stared at his arm, which had turned dark grey.
"I thought you washed that off..." Talyon said, cautiously standing up again and furrowing his brow. "We'd better get down to the lab; they can check that out too. If you're going to start randomly shooting things like th..."
"It wasn't random," James interrupted, getting to his feet shakily. "It was like...it was controlling me almost."
"Yeah, whatever," Talyon replied, heading in the direction of the lab. "In any case, it's getting more comfortable with the colony now, and that's a bad thing."
James nodded, pushing open the door to the lab and walking in. They both stared. "Where's the body?"
