Dark Side of the Moon - Ch 5
The Dark Side of the Moon
Chapter Five
Based on an RP by Alan and David

They walked toward the theatre, quiet, deep in thought. Absentmindedly, James scratched his hand.
"Hey, I thought you washed that off," Talyon spoke up, indicating the spot of dark blackish-red blood on James' hand.
He looked at it. "I thought I did. Heh, must not have gotten all of it. We're there." The two of them approached a large enclosure in the central recreation dome labeled "Holofilm theatre." James handed the two tickets to the attendant, and they entered.
"What movie is it, anyway?" Talyon wondered aloud as they found places in the back and sat down.
"The tickets said something like 2003: A Space Object..."
"2001: A Space Odyssey," Talyon corrected him.
"You've seen it before?"
"No, but I've read it. It's a book."
"Ah," James said with a chuckle. "It'll be fun to see how far off their predictions for the future were."
"Quiet," someone behind them whispered as the lights dimmed and the movie began playing.
It was obviously intended as a comedy, since many audience members broke out in laughter at different parts. About halfway through, the screen flickered and went out all-together. Overhead, the lights snapped on only to flicker off. It was pitch black.
Talyon sat up. "The only power sources to this theatre are in the front lobby and the outside conductor," he yelled over the mass of people beginning to panic and stampede toward the exits. "Ten credits says I know which one's in trouble."
"Dammit," James muttered, making his way through the mass of people and meeting Talyon by the nearest airlock. He began suiting up, but Talyon stopped him.
"Wait, we're being stupid. We can't go out there unarmed against an opponent we can't see or identify..." He sighed. "But we're the only ones who know. No one else will get there in time... Bring a light, one that's not so easy to dodge."
James grinned. "You pick up a few things as a security officer," he said, going to the nearest storage closet and picked the lock, opening the door and grabbing two huge floodlights and two military-grade laser rifles.
Talyon stared as James threw him a rifle. "Wha... three years of working for this dammed colony and I didn't even know these were here?" He sighed and quickly suited up, joining James in the airlock and closing the door. "Right. Keep your light on at all times."
The two of them stepped out onto the lunar surface.
